This is a short story to introduce the storyline in the VV Inn series. Shortly after WWII a human man enters an Inn ran by Dria (though she goes by Vivian) who just happens to be a vampire. Though the inn caters to the undead she decides to rent him a room for the night. After all, she knew him when he was younger. What she didn't expect was the mutual attraction that they had for each other.

Though this was written after Vampire Vacation, staying true to my OCBD (Obsessive Compulsive Book Disorder) self, I read this first. However, this story isn't necessary to read before the other books in the VV Inn series. It just gives us a brief view of Dria's personality and Rafe's determination. It did a great job of grabbing my interest. I can't wait to learn more about the world that CJ Ellisson has created.
