I want to thank Riverina Romantics for allowing me to guest blog. I love being here and love their site.
Those ladies are awesome.
Now you probably want to know about that title. Seems sort of odd for a romance guest blog title. It is.
I was asked to participate in the Heart Attack collection with Total-E-Bound publishing. I wasn’t sure what to even write about when I was asked. I thought, oh dear dog. Write a suspense story? I shivered at the thought. I’m too much of a linear thinker. I see an issue and fix it. To try to weave a plot where the reader doesn’t know what will happen next...I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off.
But I had this idea that wasn’t really finished.
If you’ve read my novels Right Where I Need to Be and Please Remember Me, you might remember a couple of side characters. The books aren’t really a series, but there’s a meandering path that holds them together. Of those side characters, well there are some I just couldn’t let go. One was a cop. He doesn’t actually show up in the books, but he’s friends with Ned the judge. Drew is a part of a police force in a neighboring metro area. Along with other officers, he’s undercover to break a drug ring. There was a storyline that ran through Drew’s story, but I never really knew what to do with it.
Being asked to write a contribution to the Heart Attack collection let me explore it. I loved the
characters I met in the story, Over My Head, and how they linked to Drew’s story in When You’re With Me. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but the strippers in my stories aren’t probably representative, but I spent a lot of time learning from a former dancer so I hope it translates.
And, since one of the themes for the Heart Attack collection is the next holiday on my calendar, Valentine’s Day. One of the challenges of writing the story was to weave in a Valentine’s celebration.
Randy, the hero, isn’t exactly a smooth guy. He knows how to treat a lady, but sometimes leads with his heart not his head. I had a great time writing his interpretation for forgetting Valentine’s Day and how Astra reacts to it.
Now I ask, in closing, what’s your favorite part of Valentine’s Day? Favorite memory? Mine? DH wasn’t my DH yet, just my boyfriend. He bought this balloon with a stuffed bear inside. I’d never had anything like it. I was excited to get a stuffed bear. He was more interested in making sure I noticed the ribbons.
Yeah, I totally missed the ribbons. There was a ring tied into the ribbons. Wasn’t an engagement ring (that was still another year down the road), but it was a pretty ring I wear to this day. I proved I’m not always the most observant, but I loved it!
Thanks Rivierina Romantics. I can’t wait to come back and post again!
Book Blurb
What happens when two opposites realize they have more in common than expected?
I’m a dancer, a damn good one if you asked. I work at the Silver Steel Gentlemen’s Club. My hard and fast rule? No freebies and no office dating. Except for Slade. Hard, fast, slow, gentle...I don’t care. I’ll take him any way possible. But he’s not that in to me.
Or so she thinks. I’m a bouncer at the Silver Steel. Astra doesn’t realize I see her. I can’t help myself. She captivates me every time she’s on the stage. I want her, but I have a...problem. I’m not at the Steel to pick up chicks or even work the room. I’m there to stop the influx of drugs into the community. Yeah, I’m a cop. But if the job means sampling the dancers... As long as I keep my heart out of it, I’ll be fine.
I hope.
This book has a kick ass hero, a dancer with all the right moves, hot sex, a little mutual anal play for good measure and mention of drug use.

You did a great job with the story, Wendi. It's sexy, spine-tingling and romantic all at once. :)
